BACKGROUND
Youngman Roofing, a leading supplier of high-quality roofing and insulation products, is looking for a suitably experienced individual to join the Group as a Code 14 Driver, In George, Southern Cape. The Driver is responsible for delivering all products loaded onto vehicles efficiently and effectively to each customer.
KEY RESPONSIBILTIES
- Conduct all pre-vehicle checks before starting your delivery schedule, including checking oil and water levels daily
- Ensure that the vehicle is in a roadworthy condition and that all faults are reported to the Fleet Manager immediately
- Follow the route schedule as determined by the Fleet Manager, communicating regularly with the Fleet Manager in relation to routine deliveries, including crisis situations (late deliveries, problems at client premises)
- Deliver products efficiently and effectively to customers
- Adhere to all road traffic rules and regulations
- Ensure vehicle load is secured prior to driving vehicle
- Ensure safeguarding of client goods and loads at all costs, handling product with care during loading and offloading, as well as adhering to Health and Safety rules
- Understand all the risks associated with driving the company’s distribution vehicle and minimise risks wherever possible
- Off-load product at client with due care and attention to avoid damages and injury
- Ensure the accurate fulfilment of each customer invoice, ensuring each customer signs for acceptance of products delivered
- Transact effectively via the company’s outbound IT application
- Adhere to all company procedures pertaining to documentation
- Carefully check all returns and only accept returns that comply with the company’s policy
- Ensure each customer’s order is off-loaded fully at the end of each delivery, returning all good stock to the factory.
- Ensure that your vehicle’s log sheet is kept up to date daily and completed accurately with all relevant information
- Ensure vehicle is parked neatly and securely as per company procedure upon return to the factory
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Grade 12 or equivalent will be advantageous
Valid Code 14 Drivers License
A minimum of 10 years experience on heavy hauling and interlink trucks
· Sound knowledge of road safety regulations and disciplined at following regulations
· Working knowledge of local roads and routes
· Able to work well in a team
· Navigation skills, with the ability to utilize maps, GPS systems
· Effective communication skills
· Punctual and reliable
· Basic mechanical knowledge
· Organizing skills
· Physically fit
